Follow your dentist’s instructions during the post-operative period. After the successful insertion of your dental implants, your doctor will recommend antibiotics.
You will be instructed by your dentist to use a gauze pad to stop the bleeding. The dentist will give you a roll of gauze that you can take home to use at your surgery site. Keep changing the pads until bleeding stops. Doctors suggest that you chew a moist tea packet. Your doctor should be contacted if bleeding continues.
You will be given a painkiller to treat any discomfort after surgery. A ice pack can also be used on the affected area for up to 20 minutes. Your doctor can advise you on how long to apply an icepack. You can heat the site with a teabag or a teabag two days after surgery.
To reduce bleeding and swelling, elevate your head for 24-48 hours following surgery. For at least three days, you should take plenty of rest and avoid any strenuous activity after your implant surgery.
