Tooth decay is one of the most common problems for many people all over the world. After cold, tooth decay is one of the most frequent health problems that many people face. Almost all teenagers and big majority of adults have faced problems with tooth decay, so that is why it is very important for you to do everything necessary to stop this from happening. Of course, the best action for preventing cavities is regular teeth brushing and flossing. If you do this regularly you are lowering the chances for cavities, you cut down the plaque, and you keep your mouth healthy. However, you need to brush your teeth properly and long enough so all teeth would be properly and thoroughly cleaned.
It is recommended you use a soft toothbrush which you will softly and gently glide along your teeth. Ideally you should hold the toothbrush at angle of 45 degrees in order to reach the bottom of the teeth as well as the gums. Many dentists advise people to brush their tongues too, because a lot of bacteria can pile up on the tongue that can damage the teeth and gums. After you are done brushing, next step is flossing your teeth properly. Flossing will not take much of your time and best thing about it is that you can floss wherever you are or whatever you do. You can floss while watching TV, reading a book, while in office, or anywhere else. Teeth have many different sides, so brushing them just front and back is not enough. Therefore, floss regularly and you will significantly lower chances for appearance of cavities.
Besides brushing and flossing, another thing that you must do to prevent cavities is to avoid sugary foods and certain drinks that can damage your teeth. Acidy drinks and foods should be avoided. Of course, you do not have to give up entirely on your favorite foods and drinks, but you should at least mouthwash regularly in order to avoid plaque buildup and other problems. Smoking is another cause for teeth problems, so try to stop smoking in order to keep your teeth healthy and shiny. Smoking not only can damage your tongue, mouth and teeth, but it can also lead to serious gum disease and oral cancer. Consider these things, follow some of the advice and you will keep your teeth healthy.
